PR to align the base repo with both APIs and initial web client so repository is not segregated preventing integration

@esune @itchison I've PR'ed Anais' VC changes. Can you please approve? Having the working APIs separated between forks and/or PRs is making changes difficult. I'm wasting a bunch of time cherry picking and feeding changes through the base repo from different forks. In a separate PR this morning I fixed CORS issues in both APIs and am able to pull/push data from each API and dump the raw data into the template, but won't work as a whole until we consolidate.
