Send email to LTSA to notify them of API that can be used instead of web service & follow up with meeting due Apr 4 #11343

LTSA searches for corps and filings today using a web service.

In the future, an API should be used.

Suggest starting this conversation now, so they have lots of lead time so system changes can be made.

trishreimer commented 2 years ago

@lmcclung - maybe we could start with an email and then follow up with a conversation with LTSA. They do not search SP & GP's today so they do not need to change by June but we should start the process and discussion sooner rather than later so they know what is coming down the pipe.

Alternatively, instead of scheduling a separate meeting with LTSA, we can invite them to the API info session to learn more that @magszymanski is coordinating.

lmcclung commented 2 years ago

@trishreimer @magszymanski great idea to invite them to the API info session. Mags, would you mind emailing Michael Kagis to see if he has a contact for LTSA?

trishreimer commented 2 years ago

Since our meeting to discuss local governments and options available to this partner group, LTSA may fall into the same category as municipalities.

If LTSA use an API -there is currently a fee in place when using this service. Currently, they do not pay for this data.

Maybe the BN route is a better option, like our other partners? @lmcclung

Since Dwayne is looking into the local gov agreements already, I'll reach out to him to see if we have one with LTSA. @lmcclung

Just emailed to see if the BN partner option would be better than API based.

@Maribeth-Wilson I reached out to Dwayne's LTSA contact Gregory Steves (VP Policy and Legal Services) about the upcoming API session, who forwarded the email to his colleague Rob Cutler. Eng Mailbox is CC'd on these emails - when they respond, would you mind adding them to the API session list please? AND add them to the API DL so that we have them noted for future communications. Thanks!

Reply from Rob Cutler, Mar 25/22:

Magdalena, Thank you for reaching-out. I am not the specific individual for you t connect with, but the following members of my team are:

Technical contact is: Jatinder Sharma, Software Architect Jatinder.Sharma@landsure.ca Product contact is Cedric Fernandes, Product Portfolio Manager. Sr Manager contact is Xin Jiang, Director Research & Development

From a high-level, here is the technical details on our usage of the BC Corp Registry service:

We use the BC Corp Registry service in the two areas in our system: a) In business rule execution – our system calls BC Corp registry to validate the status of a corporation b) In our internal “workbench” search function which allows our employee (an “Examiner of Title” to conduct a manual search of the corporate registry to retrieve the status).

The URL we used is https://wmgateway.gov.bc.ca:4443/rest/ltsa/v1/$1

I am told the amount of work is relatively small if your the new service provides backward compatibility; though we will need your assistance to map the existing service to the new APIs.

I will ask Jatinder to take it from here and almost certainly attend your upcoming information session, Thank you,
