FYI, Megan and I met with Dig Trust folks on Friday, June 2nd to look at their ideas for improving access to tokens for people who cannot get into an SBC office or don't have a mobile device. A few folks from IDIM were there, as well as a number from Health (Prime). I asked if they had considered having someone else do the authentication - Canada Post, library, etc. Deb mentioned that before Student Loans program adopted BCSC use, they students had to use Canada Post for authentication. It was very time consuming and the Student Loans branch advised using BCSC sped up the process by 6-8 weeks. Not sure what all was included in the Canada Post processes, but I suspect it was more than just looking at their documentation.

It was noted in the tix that the Student Loads program used Canada Post and it was very time consuming. The Student Loads branch advised using BCSC, which sped up the process by 6-8 weeks.

If this is true, using Canada Post would be a step backward in service. It’s for a small use case of people and would probably take a bit of time to implement. With existing priorities, I would recommend parking it or closing it…or finding another viable option that is easier and faster.

Thoughts?

Sinead,

Yes it was. It covers the same as BCSC setup, but with more locations if people want to come in-person. It also does not setup a BCSC account, so we'd need something else to bind to.

We ended with thinking we could try it out, as Linda pointed out it could have greater coverage than GA or ICBC offices. I think someone was going to check if the post offices inside pharmacies could also provide this service.

We may want to add / create an Epic for this and the Stripe work.

Since cost and time takes more than BCSC and BCeID, can I close this @lmcclung ?
