- Juricert provides registration services which validate the online identity and professional credentials of the registrant and provide proof of that validation via a digital identifier.
- Lawyers, Notaries, Land Surveyors, Accountants, Financial Officers, and Authorized Subscriber Registers are all eligible.
- Paralegals in BC are not regulated in the same manner as lawyers or notaries.
- They typically work under the supervision of lawyers and are recognized through professional associations like the BC Paralegal Association (BCPA).
- Unlike lawyers, who have Juricert for digital credentialing, paralegals do not currently have a standardized digital credentialing system.
- The BC Paralegal Association (BCPA) offers membership and some level of professional recognition but does not provide a digital credential equivalent to Juricert.
- Currently Paralegals are often verified through their employment with law firms or their association with professional bodies.

Currently lawyers can obtain a Juricert credential which confirms they are a practicing lawyer in the Province of BC. Review is required to determine if similar digital credentials enable identification of practicing Notaries in the Province of BC or Paralegals.
Background: If we can verify a person is a lawyer, notary or paralegal who is bound by a college or other body, we have enhanced trust in their data and could allow that they click a checkbox stating they've verified the ID of an SI they are entering.
