Overview

This PR includes the following proposed change(s):

Bandaid fix of adding a try catch where creating new activities is failing.
PR doesn't fix the issue, but just highlights where it is, and prevents the hard crash that was being experienced. Work will need to be done to investigate the underlying issue, but this area is subject to refactoring
