Adding a field in the registry to capture what is hosted in the OpenShift namespace #1090

Describe the issue This request/suggestion came from the Community member Jennifer Dowd (Jennifer.Dowd@gov.bc.ca). She sent an email to Sal with following idea:

As you know, I’m working on a model to operationalize support for OpenShift in my sector. Part of that project is looking at potentially setting up a database of all the namespaces and what’s in those namespaces for us to reference easily and keep up to date. Because you already have the Product Registry, I thought I would reach out to you to see if your team would be interested in adding a field in the registry to capture what is hosted in the OpenShift namespace?

It recently came to light by a vendor team that some namespace contain more than just microservices. Specifically, for one of our sector applications, e-Filing, it hosts the microservice for the application but also hosts a virus scanning software that the application uses every time someone uses the application. Unfortunately, we lack a list of all our namespaces and what’s hosted in each one for each reference.

Rather than reinventing the product registry, is it possible to add a field that vendor teams can fill in what’s hosted in the environment? Or, should we be using the description field for that? My concern with using the description field is that people will forget to add what’s hosted in the environment.

Definition of done/Acceptance Criteria TBD
