UI Changes for BC OrgBook theme based on BC Registries feedback #329

Discussed with BC Registries Jan 10:

Other prior feedback not yet discussed:

  1. Don't display the timeline if the corporation does not have a registration date (corporation.recognition_dts)

  2. Filters are non cleared with subsequent searches. (If I search and refine to only view Extraprovincial Companies after returning the menu and searching a new entity this filter remained which may add confusion given for users completing multiple searches it is unlikely they will be for consistent entity types / statuses.)

  3. There is a concern with both the search ability and the way the name is displayed in the UI. Currently the search only retrieves the company if you search using the home jurisdiction name. A user may be searching by either the home jurisdiction name or the assumed name. Either would be valid – but for BC more important is the assumed name which currently does not work in search. The search results list only displays the home jurisdiction name yet when a user opens the record the assumed name displays. Ideally the search would be updated to enable searches by both name type, the search results list would be updated to include the assumed name in the listing where it exists, and the registration screen would be updated to include the assumed name where it exists (and would display a label to identify the name type).

  4. Feedback from Cameron Wulff Dec 17:

Case sensitivity for searching by number was a concern. When searching fm0731915 the search failed. Cameron determined afterwards that uppercase FM was required. Confusion with terminology was noted. I suspect some of the wording is still to be updated so this may not be relevant. Cameron is used to the legal terms used within BC Registries so noted for labels such as “Organization Name or Registration ID” he identified they do not align with the labels we use (Incorporation Number or Registration Number). Registration status could just read status. Credential Date / Name Effective Date / Status Effective Date: would be nice if panning over these fields would generate a description of the fields. Timeline Historical Records: Cameron did not find the timeline intuitive in terms of active / inactive records. He noted “I searched FM0540012. I realized this credential reads registration even though it was the cancellation date. I think it should read cancellation. This is when the registration was dissolved.” I understand the color coding identifies ‘status’ so perhaps having a legend to identify what colors mean would add value. Description of credential / issuer: Cameron felt that the text identifying what a credential and issuer are should be presented on the home page when you first get to an entity.

  1. Timelines project into the future for current state. It seems odd, or suggestive of an entity being available until that time. What was the logic behind this design choice?

Let's review this during or prior to the milestone sprint review and determine if this can be closed or if further refinements are needed.

@jljordan42 - are these still relevant? Are these things that Sean could work on?

swcurran commented 4 years ago

These are items to be discussed in a general review of the OrgBook BC UI and a reference Indy Catalyst reference UI. Moving to Indy Catalyst for review in the future.

Closing. Obsolete based on the UX work being done.
