Can't play videos when the plugin is upgraded from 1.4 #34

Hi,

I've just upgraded the plugin from 1.4 to 1.5, and I found all the videos do not play. As mentioned on the moodle plugin page, there is no control bar and we can not play the video.

https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_videotime ( As the post by Kent 2022/03/23

I have not tried to change the database table yet, but as the post mentioned, all “controls” columns of the previous videos are set as 0. When I added new Videotime activities it works fine, and the “controls” column is set as “1”.

Moodle: 3.9.6+ VideoTime: 1.5.0

Hi!

We're aware of the issue and currently look into it. Sorry that we did not notice this in our testing; it seems to only affect upgrades from a certain version to 1.5.

I'll keep you updated!

Thanks Stefan

Hi, we have the same issue with two Moodle sites.

It is so critical because the students are not able to play the videos.

Moodle: 3.11.6+ VideoTime: 1.5.0

Thanks,

Update: we're working on this and hope to be able to provide a fix soon.

Until then, the following temporary solutions are available:

1) manually set the controls paramenter in the databse to 1 (table: mdl_videotime) 2) for pro customers: use the general settings to force controls to 1; please also check that background is set to 0 (because background also hides the controls, mutes and autplays a video)

I'll update this issue as soon as I have news.

Hi karem,

I don't see any images in your post.

If you only see a video time logo, then you don't have video time pro installed.

Maybe you meant Vimeo pro and not Video Time pro? The global settings I was referring to are only available for video time pro customers; it is irrelevant which Vimeo Plan you have.

Best Stefan

karemmohsen commented 2 years ago

Yes , i thought u talk about Vimeo pro , but now is there any alternative solution if i don't have video time pro ?

stefanscholz commented 2 years ago

Hi @karemmohsen, sorry for the late reply, somehow missed the notification — my apologies. Without pro, you can set the controls parameter in the database to 1 (table mdl_videotime) — see my comment from March 24th in this issue.

We've released a new version (1.5.1) a few moments ago to the moodle plugin database which contains a fix for this issue. (and three other ones which did only affect pro/business customers). See also https://github.com/bdecentgmbh/moodle-mod_videotime/releases
