Moodle Workplace App not tracking Video Time Completion Properly #59

Open scottreasor opened 10 months ago

scottreasor commented 10 months ago

We have had several students report that when they finish watching a Video Time video on the Moodle Workplace app, it doesn't show that it has been completed. This in turn prevents them from accessing the next content in a course which is tied to completion of the video. If they log into their computer it is marked complete there and they can continue. Does anyone have experience with the Workplace app not recognizing when Video Time is marked complete?

Hi @scottreasor,

Sorry to hear that!

We don't have access to workplace (source code) as we are not a moodle premium partner. We do have a workplace 4.2 site though for testing purposes and I can try to reproduce the issue there.

Could you please provide steps to reproduce the problem and share more details about your environment?

If you don't want to share this information publicly, feel free to send it to me directly (sts@bdecent.de).

Best Stefan

Thanks for the reply Stefan,

I have done a lot of testing and so far have found this to be a possible solution. In the Video Time completion settings, I had set it to 'Finish Video' as the completion criteria in Moodle. I switched this to 'Complete Percent' and made it 99%. This seemed to start tracking the completion properly. I did just run into another issue though, and that is students who are logged in from some work locations (assuming they have restrictive firewalls/security settings on the network) are not having their percent of completion being tracked at all. This means they are not able to get completion for watching the video time video. We are telling students to not connect through their work network if we identify this issue. I wasn't sure if you have seen something similar from other users in the past.

Thanks,

Scott
