Some symbols resemble letters, e.g. ⌊ vs L and ○ vs o and ∨ vs v and × vs x. Some historical programming fonts have dealt with this by making all letters italic or oblique. This also takes care of disambiguation between 0 and O without having to add any decorator to 0.
Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like the Variants selection interface to allow selecting the italic/oblique versions of the letters.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Building one upright and one italic/oblique font, and then manually merging them in a font editor.
