direct X issue - crashing over sydney #237

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.On a windows machine only (Macs do not use direct X), go to sydney in
google earth (plugin or desktop) make sure it is the direct X version and
not openGL
2. move around sydney for a number of seconds,
3. the plugin will crash (i have deleted all the browser and plugin cache
on the system and uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin) and tested it on
machines that did not have the plugin installed previously.

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
The plugin crashes (google earth desktop also crashes)

Which plugin version are you using?
latest version, also occurs on google desktop

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?
IE and Firefox

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.
Google earth does not crash on macs or when using google earth open GL.
This issue only started occurring last wednesday and seems to only occur
over sydney (have tested it over san francisco and New York as originally I
thought that it might be an issue with 3d building. However it also crashes
when 3d buildings are turned off)

Hi darragh.amurphy81,

Can you provide some system specs for the Windows machine, especially info
about your
video card, OS, and CPU.

Also, if any other programs are misbehaving, perhaps try running a memtest and
chkdsk?

Thanks,
Roman

We were never able to reproduce this. Have you seen this since the original
report?

The issue rectified itself a number of weeks after I initially reported it and
I have
never witnessed it since. So I guess that a roll back or an update of the data
for
the sydney region rectified the issue. Thanks for your help
