GE Plugin installs Google Update without asking and there is no way to remove it

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I'm using Firefox 3.5

1. Install GE Plugin
2. Notice Google Update add-on installed without asking
3. Uninstall GE Plugin
4. Notice Google Update is not removed

What is the expected output or behavior? 

When I install GE Plugin I don't want any other programs installed. This is
a terrible practice of Google. I will not support an product that is sneaky
and doing things like this behind my back.  

Which plugin version are you using?

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?

I'm using Vista

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.

Please provide a clean uninstall of GE Plugin. I would like to see all
folders and registry settings deleted when I uninstall GE Plugin.

I spoke too soon. The Google Update is removed once the GE Plugin is 
uninstalled.
Perhaps it happens in a cleanup routine because I don't think it happens at the 
same
time.

At any rate Google's practice of installing the Google Update software has to 
stop.
We should have an option to opt out if we don't want it.

Also make sure the registry items are removed when we uninstall GE Plugin. At 
this
time there are about 50 entries left in there as clutter. Very poor programming.
