Joint density bubble plot - white space if not square #90

If the bubble plot isn't perfectly square then vertical white bars appear.

The simplest option is to scale the background boxes to fill their area (i.e., take the same aspect ratio as the plot margins) - the bubbles can still be circles and centred in these.

A more complex solution is to rescale the plot bounds to take an aspect ratio such as each cell is square.

These could be an option.
