I've discovered this edge case today with my brand new account on Strava. Into that new account, I've imported a lot of activities from other tracking apps to backfill a few years worth of activities.
This created a situation where all of my activities were in fact dated before the account creation and they won't get imported into my site because of the explicit check. Replacing the account creation by epoch zero solves the problem for the initial import.
Continuous imports still use the date from the latest post - nothing has changed there.
