The Gallery module allows for either Thumbs image size (square images) or a Collage (different aspect ration images in a masonry type layout).
The "thumbs" option looks neat but will always display in 150x150px size no matter which size you set for your thumbs under Settings > Media. I would have thought that changing the thumb size would change the size it is displayed in the gallery, and adjust the number of columns accordingly.
Alternatively, it would be good to be able to choose a custom image size under the Collage option, rather than just small, medium and large. That way I could choose my custom thumbnail size and have it displayed in square image rows with more control over the image size and number of columns. As it stands, 90% of the time I need a neat layout with square images and the Gallery plugin doesn't seem to be able to do that unless you want absolutely tiny thumbs, which I generally don't.
