Description

Outcome Visualisation 2 : A humanitarian aid organization uses disaster prediction data to deliver anticipatory aid before floods hit in Sarpang (Bhutan)

• Blue Cross is a humanitarian aid organization active in disaster relief in Bhutan. Blue Cross has flood prediction data from Sky Analytics. But it needs more than this to mobilize anticipatory aid.
• In Thimpu, Blue Cross uses its Climate Resilience Data Highways Network to search for population exposure data in Sarpang to identify households that may be saved through anticipatory action.
• Blue Cross receives a list of NGOs, Government Departments, and GIS Survey Services that have different fields of population exposure data (demographics, vulnerability data, employment, etc.)
• It views the vulnerability data available from 2 sources on the network - Housing construction quality data from Min. of Works & Human Settlement and Special needs population data from Lepro – an NGO serving disabled populations in Bhutan.
  • For housing construction quality data, Blue Cross views datapoints available from Home Dep't (building material, building age, elevation, maintenance state, occupancy, etc.)
  • It then views 3 formats of housing construction quality data available from Min. of Works and Human Settlement – SQL, Geo-JSON, CSV
  • It selects Geo-JSON as the desired format
  • Blue Cross views 3 modes of data fulfilment available from Sky Analytics – Rest API, Cloud, Email, etc.
  • It selects Email as the preferred mode
  • For special needs population data , Blue Cross views datapoints available from Lepro (age, disabilities, chronic illnesses, medical dependencies, etc.)
  • It then views 3 formats of special needs population data available from Lepros – SQL, Geo-JSON, CSV
  • It selects CSV as the desired formats
  • Blue Cross views 3 modes of data fulfilment available from Sky Analytics – Rest API, Cloud, Email, etc.
  • It selects Cloud storage as the preferred mode
• Blue Cross receives two smart contracts from the data sources, and accepts the terms and conditions
• Within minutes, Blue Cross' disaster aid planning software imports the data, and the dashboard indicates households that need health kits and monetary aid

Update 27th Mar:

• Had a discussion with Bharath to understand the requirement.
• created the first draft (till confirm API) of the example JSONs based on the outcome visualisation doc shared.

28th Mar: An Internal discussion with Spec team happened to review the change. following changes were made to the first draft.

• Made the file format a tag inside each item instead of putting it in descriptor
• Created tags for each of the data points in a dataset, earlier it was a plain text in the long_desc. The UI is not going to do any filtering or search based on these data points but based on the discussion we felt that even for UI to show the data points as tags, UI has to parse it, so why not make it tags, then UI will already have a structured data.
• create xinput form for the user to accepts the terms and condition.
