No audio with movies when lid closed to macbook pro retina #40

!!! Describe your problem in details - it is impossible to reproduce
something like: "it turns on randomly"

When I play a movie on my pro through the HDMI output with the lid closed, the
video works, however, no audio plays. It will only play audio with the lid
opened.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open movie file with external displaying video and audio
2.Begin playing file
3. close lid
4. no audio when lid closes

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using version 1.3.0 and I'm running OS X Loin

Thanks!

Ps I love this app
Ryan

I to have this issue and hope a fix is forthcoming. Thanks for the excellent
app. If it works with HDMI audio out in future I'd gladly pay or donate as it'd
be an app I'd use daily.

Hello guys,

Did you tried this case on 10.8? Which video player do you use?
I've just bought mDisplayPort->HDMI cable and audio plays regardless to a lid.

Hi

This was on 10.8 using VLC (latest version 2.0.3) where I got perfect video but
no sound through HDMI.

Hi Nick,

I made some trick which can fix the issue, since I can't reproduce it on my
mac, could you try binaries I will sent you?

And a quick question: are you using same HW? New retina mac?

Thanks,
--Pavel.

Still the same issue with HDMI audio on Mid-2012 MacBook Air's.

Ok... Lets try to figure out. Could you look in System Preferences -> Audio and
check that the HDMI audio output is present. Check this window with opened and
closed display, are they same?

FYI: I went into the sys prefs and all was well after lid was closed, HOWEVER,
I decided to look into the audio menu tab for VLC and sure enough, HDMI audio
out was NOT selected. After I chose it, audio works like a charm!

I don't know about you, but once the lid was closed, I had to use a remote
mouse to close VLC and then reopen it with HDMI selected and it worked like a
charm....try it!
