Nosleep simply isn't working on my new Macbook pro 15' retina when plugged in to AC #65

Hello,

Yes this is my first time ever using a mac as my own and first using Nosleep.

It simply isn't working. I've been closing the lid and assuming it is staying
awake, but I will come back later, lift the lid up, login, and it's just as if
it's woken up from sleep.

I was using Nosleep primarily this time to keep the computer awake for
jdownloader while it was downloading. I was annoyed to find that because it
went back to sleep, the download was thus interrupted and reset to the
beginning as I clicked start/resume.

I'm using Nosleep version 1.3.1 (latest)
OSX version 10.8.2

Any more information required, please ask.

I hope this can be remedied, would've been a very useful app indeed.

Thanks,
 Luis.

Hi Luis,

Is it happend with AC adapter connected or not? Could you check Apple->System
Preferences->Energy Saver. These settings are still make sense.

Thanks,
--Pavel.

Everything looks good...

Is it works when you close the display only for a couple of minutes?

Luis, could you try to catch this issue again, and attach a dmesg output here.
It would be useful to undercover the cause.

I can't be sure on the time frame but it has to sleep somewhere between 2 and
20 minutes after I shut the lid and it appears to be sleep when I don't close
the lid as well despite my power settings being on "never sleep on AC", which
is highly annoying.

And ok, the attached file includes the dmesg output, sorry I forgot to include
it earlier.

Here:

The log that you've sent doesn't cover the timeframe when your computer asleep.

Do you just told that your mac sleeps even with opened lid, on AC, and settings
from the screenshot?

Yes it does sleep even on AC, but after a longer period of time.

And ok I will send you another output later replicating the results or the
earlier incident.

Thanks,

Hi,

I haven't properly trailed through and read the output text, but I'm pretty
sure that the problem has been captured this time.

I left Jdownloader running and opened up my macbook after a long period of
time. When I logged back in jdownloader had quit and I had a popup message. It
seemed to have woken up from sleep, but I can't be sure either way. Jdownloader
quit while it was downloading (for a long period of time) when I didn't want it
to.

The new output is attached.

Thanks,

--Luis.

Hi,

There is no any signs of sleep in this log... Try to check it another way - for
example you can set the checkbox "Require password after sleep" and close the
lid. After some time open it and check if you will be asked for a password or
not.

And don't forget to disable screen saver if you have it.

Hello again,

It appears that it is working, although It wasn't to start with. It may have
been just jdownloader unexpectedly quitting. And that plus it being my first
mac I may have made a misjudgment somewhere.

Anyway thank you forl your help! If I have any more problems I shall come back.

Merry christmas and a happy new year!

Thanks,

Lewis.
