Distinct favicon #298

Open dreeves opened 1 year ago

dreeves commented 1 year ago
### Desiderata
- [x] Grab the one from the wordpress blog unless we have a better idea
- [ ] Discuss ideas for a distinct favicon -- different from bmndr.co and from doc.bmndr.co
- [ ] Narthur points to where to update the favicon
- [ ] Double check opengraph preview stuff (or gissue this separately)

I have a million beeminder and blog.beeminder and doc.beeminder tabs open all the time. If they were all different it would help me a lot.

Oh, ha, I thought the blog had something different than beeminder.com. I guess I was thinking of doc.beeminder.com. I'd love to find something distinct from either of those, but this is above-and-beyond the migration project.

@dreeves Roger that. I've changed the milestone to v1 to indicate this isn't a blocker for first launch.

@dreeves I see that I'm still assigned to this issue, but I don't think there's any next action for me until you guys have a new favicon for the blog.

Nice! Any number of these would work beautifully. The very last one looks perfect except for the frown. Turn that upside down and ship it? Or just pick one you like?

Here is a favicon to use that is actual simple enough to look ok at favicon scale, and it'll be ok in darkmode too (though not super) because there're actually white book pages behind the bee icon. beebook

Ah, nice. But will that, at a glance, appear the same as beeminder.com's favicon? A handy thing about favicons is spotting the website you want in a sea of browser tabs. I'm actually unsure here. We can try and see!

Here's how our existing various favicons look on my Chrome homescreen, in lightmode and darkmode:
