By "Beeminder is the nuclear option" I mean that if for some reason you hate beeminding something like your weight and much prefer being vegan or whatever then absolutely do that. But also have Beeminder just in case. Maybe better than "Beeminder is the nuclear option" is "Beeminder is your insurance policy, in case the other stuff doesn't work".
So I can believe that and also believe that Beeminder is better for weight loss than being vegan (which I probably do believe). Like it's the nuclear option and also the heavy artillery option and also the kitten-gently-nudging-you-with-its-fuzzy-head option.
If you're doing a graphable thing over time and have some constraints on the function you're plotting then probably you want to be beeminding it. [From discussion of meta vs PTO graphs.]
