The Half-Plate Rule: Whenever you put food on your plate, fill at least
half with fruits and vegetables.
The Half-Cart Rule: Same as the half-plate rule but for your shopping
cart.

Serve up your plate in the kitchen, not at the table. Then you have
to get up to get seconds, and can't graze on the extra food on the
table without realizing it.

# oops, the claim that plate size matters doesn't replicate, apparently
#Fun fact: Your grandmother's plates were probably 10 inches in diameter
#and yours are probably 12 inches. That's 44% bigger. Lifehack: Use
#old-timey small plates.

Plating and waiting! Two key strategies for avoiding overeating are
(1) precommit to how much you'll eat by putting it on a plate first, (2)
wait 5 minutes before filling your plate again and in general slow your
eating down, like by putting your fork down between bites.

Plating, waiting, and decelerating. To avoid overeating, do three
things:
  1. Commit to how much you'll eat by putting it on a plate first
  2. Wait 5 minutes before filling your plate again
  3. Eat slowly and savor -- put your fork down between bites

Latest discussion:

No, waiting comes after appreciating, but I suppose appreciating could be deccelerating Plate, Appreciate, Wait And “commit to” seems like a strange way to say what plating means You’re not committing to eating it.. cause what if it’s too much and you need to store some for later. Plate = decide what you want to eat before eating to see that you have macro variety and color and to help you begin the satiation process by seeing the whole meal

[ME] roger, that makes more sense to have Appreciating in between plating and waiting and, yeah, i meant more like "pre-decide" rather than "commit"
