Settings not properly updated in r548 #69

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run NR with default settings
2. Open hardware settings
3. Change the number of channels
4. Run again. Change has not be fully recognized. Index out of bounds.

This occured during the movement of the sampling freq. etc controls to the 
hardware settings. That was a good idea, but we need to run some tests to make 
sure it did not break everything. Riley, can you do that?
