VLC won't play Youtube videos #14

At first, everything worked fine until a system update (Ubuntu 18). Now whenever I send a video link to VLC (using the add-on), it says "Codec not supported: VLC could not decode the format "h264" (H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10))". However, drag-and-drop the video link to VLC still works.Web browser: Opera. Sample video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eL-kFeJ6M8. Edit: Tried on Firefox and it's working fine. I think the add-on isn't working well with Opera. As I remember, the system update yesterday included Opera as well.

So does the extension send the real video URL? Can you confirm this on the playlist section of the VLC

Check the playlist for the actual URL. Maybe the extension is sending a wrong URL instead of the page URL.

That's weird. The extension is not supposed to track the video URL in YouTube pages. What is your browser?

Random-G commented 6 years ago

Opera Stable v56 (latest).

belaviyo commented 6 years ago

Did you press the toolbar button to send the URL?

Random-G commented 6 years ago

Yes, I did.

How about the new release?

screenshot from 2018-10-03 18-09-36 Sad to say this, but the problem still exists. I saw that the existing add-on in Opera was v0.2.0, but it was v0.2.1 in the extension store, so I decided to delete it and re-install it again to no avail. It kept giving me an error message as shown in the screenshot. Therefore, I can't test it right now.

Ok. Now I can install the add-on. Still, it gives the same error. This is the URL of the same video I got from VLC: https://r4--...Iv4CoBg
