💾 Get moving with Super Grate; a free & open source Windows Profile Migration & Backup Utility. Super Grate is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) that assists Microsoft's USMT (User State Migration Utility) in performing remote migrations over a network connection.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I want to make re-installing Windows (which I do annualy) less painful. Being visually impaired already makes this quite a tedious process as the screen magnifier only starts to work when Windows is in it's "First run" wizard. Therefore, I am considering creating a Windows PE image, that includes a Win10 installer and some migration tool to automate the procedure of installing the OS and pulling down my backed up user and plug that in - possibly with a few extras like a text file of my winget packages, so I can fire that off immediately after login to let it re-install all applications I had.
Describe the solution you'd like
A concise explanation and method of embedding Grate into WinPE; more specifically, which specifications must be met (.NET frameworks required). And possible caveats.
Describe alternatives you've considered
A guide on how to restore a profile immediately after installation as early as possible.
Additional context
I have a few Linux servers I plan on backing up with Restic and I am looking for a solution to make re-installing my OS less painful. That includes installing Windows 10 clean and importing first my user profile, then a few core utilities (PowerShell script, probably) and then any additional files and applications.
