Fix for null files + unsing PLUGIN_NAME const like suggested in plugin guidelines

This looks fine, but I'd prefer if you made the changes on the latest copy of master, I've since updated the plugin and added more tests which this patch removes. I'll merge if you could fix this. Thanks.
