Or maybe just like in vim(maybe in vi too) that when you close a document the other one shows up and you can also switch with a keybind

That could be a good idea! I don't think there's enough room for a tab bar in the UI, so a key bind to switch, and a function to view all open documents would work well.

I would suggest you just leverage the new tab system in CC 1.6+
