I used epub metadata editor to edit a number of file names and metadata. After I did that, Syncios / iBooks will no longer accept those files. Before I did that, I had no problem uploading the files. Only files I edited with EME are being rejected.

version 1.8.4 (latest) on Win10 (latest update) Syncios v. 6.7.5 (latest)

OK, I figured out what the problem was.

Apparently, the problem originates with iPad/iOS. Unlike Calibre, which stores files in folders by author name, iOS stores ebooks all in 1 folder, under title name only. That explains why it will not accept 2 books with the same title, even when they are from different authors. That doesn't make sense to me, because the input file names are different, but I did notice that exports are all in the same folder and title only, no author in filename anymore. I assume that's how iOS stores them. I've changed the book names back to include author name in the title, so all names are different. No more problems.
