Using an LED Ring for Fluorescence? #2

Open beniroquai opened 3 years ago

We wanted to incorporate the ability to have fluorescence in this microscope, right? I measured the spectrum of these Neopixel/Adafruit RGB LEDs here. It seems that the blue LED could excite GFP and SYBR green. @theosanderson What do you think? The efficiency is very low. Maybe taking a flexible strip and glueing it on a 45° tilted 3d printed part could "focus" the light a bit better?

It follows this idea.

Hey! Thanks so much for doing this measurement!

I'm definitely happy to give some of this a go - and the off-axis illumination does from other work sound like a distinct possibility.

At the same time I'm starting to wonder if for my application I might want to think about maybe bringing together some of the OpenFlexure optics with a real objective lens with your awesome stage (obviously would not be able to use the super-cool voicecoil which would be a shame). Things are a bit hectic with a few things right now but I'll definitely be playing around with these various options.

I see the point you've mentioned. I made up my mind. See Issue #3
