Port to twitter API v1.1? #265

The twitter API v1.0 is deprecated -- are there plans to port mb-purple to the
v1.1 API?

Is there a risk of mb-purple ceasing to function at some point if it is not
ported?

Twitter API v1.0 is apparently officially retired as of today (11-Jun-2013)
according to https://dev.twitter.com/blog/api-v1-is-retired.

I started getting authentication errors today trying to connect to my twitter
account. Looks like Twitter via pidgin is dead until the new API is implemented.

Has anyone found a replacement that works with the new (mandatory) Twitter API?

I'm offering a 5BTC bounty for a working v1.1 API pidgin twitter add-on. Even
though I have not personally used this particular add-on, maybe you guys could
merge with this project (http://code.google.com/p/prpltwtr/issues/detail?id=88)
and pool your resources? I'm really at a loss for a good twitter add-on for
pidgin right. I'm missing a lots because of it! The web UI really sucks! Maybe
it would be possible to totally avoid the API by working like the Thunderbid
Hotmail and Yahoo webmail add-ons work? Anyone up to the challenge?

Bounty increased to 6BTC......Also, not sure if this helps but api 1.1 has been
made to work here:
http://learn.adafruit.com/internet-of-things-printer/download maybe that code
is of some use as an example implementation of the api??

I had opened an issue on this site almost a year ago related to Twitter login
failures that never got any traction. I wonder if this issue will... never had
the pleasure of using Pidgin for Twitter...
