Gears not compatilbe with Firefox 3.6.6 #1018

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try install
2. Message Gears not compatible with Firefox version.
Google Gears" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your 
Firefox build type (Linux_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item 
about the problem.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
I have an installation of 0.5.32.0 Gears on Firefox. This version was working 
with 3.0.8 Firefox version. I updated Firefox to version 3.6.6 and now gears 
isn't working. I try update but installer show the message: "Google Gears" 
could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Firefox build 
type (Linux_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item about the problem

Same issue here, mandriva 10, firefox 3.6.6. I cannot install gears from the 
gears's web site

same problem with ubuntu 9.10 & firefox 3.6.11
the message is :« Google Gears » n'a pas pu être installé car celui-ci 
n'est pas compatible avec votre type de version de Firefox (Linux_x86-gcc3).

Same problem with Fedora 13 and Firefox 3.6.10. Message follows:

"Google Gears" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your 
Firefox build type (Linux_x86-gcc3). Please contact the author of this item

Same problem on Ubuntu 10.10 with same version of Firefox. Can we intergrate 
Evolution, since it comes with Ubuntu, and has been on the taskbar since Ubuntu 
10.04 LTS? I don't have the correct information to fill it in...

Same problem with ubuntu 10.10 firefox 3.6.12
Tried the hack of install.rdf file. But I see the recommended change of 3.5 --> 
3.6 is already there. Still have the problem.

I have tried to install original tgz package from Mozilla with the same 
results. It doesn't depend on plugins as I've made completely new profile.

Does anyone care about it? The problem seems to be very old...
