I am a client systems architect for an IT outsourcing company. One of my tasks
is building disk images for customers that use our desktop IT outsourcing
service.
We have a customer who requires Google Gears for a third-party product. They
are in an offline environment with very limited Internet access. One of the
things that makes Windows image creation much easier is the ability to install
a product without Internet access. Google Gears does not appear to have an
installer available that does not communiccate with the Internet. As a result,
we have to connect the machine to the Internet once to access
http://gears.google.com and get the Gears bits downloaded and installed.
We would like to see an offline installer that does not rely on the Internet
for software. In other words, clicking one Setup EXE will give the user
everything he needs for that particular version of Gears.
