Michael, can you look into this?

I think the place to start is with the Gmail QA team. Is this a gears thing or
a gmail
thing, very difficult to know on the surface.
I run dogfood caribou gmail and really have no idea what to expect. I was just
running
dogfood caribou on xp/ie7 and vista/ie8 and got the same results out of both of
them. Not
the correct result, but the same result nonetheless. The page did load, but the
left-
hand-side was missing in action. The left-hand-side is not missing in action on
Chrome,
didn't try Firefox.
I was running a gears build for IE with CL 10962252 included. Not sure if that
makes a
difference or not?

I'll check what happens with 0.5.4.2 to see if this may have something todo
with the
newer network intercept hackery in 0.5.16.0 and let you know what i find.

On xp/ie7, I get the same results with 0.5.4.2 and with 0.5.16.0 (without CL
10962252),
page loads with missing left-hand-side. So I see nothing particular to the
newer network
intercept hackery introduced in 0.5.16.0.
Steps i've been taking...
* no ie running
* clear out the gears data directory
* start ie
* login to gmail dogfood
* click offline
* let it sync the app and a few hundred mail messages
* open a new blank tab
* close the gmail tab
* put ie in workoffline mode
* clear the browser cache
* navigate to https://mail.google.com/a/google.com/
The result has been the same with Gears 0.5.4.2, 0.5.16.0, and
0.5.16.0+CL10962252. The
page loads missing the left-hand-side and the top-row-navigation-links

I'm also not able to reproduce this on ie8 under winxp. I'm seeing a few weird
quirks
with dogfood gmail as well, but no wholesale failure on ie8. I haven't seen
any
problems yet with live labs offline gmail.

This is happening with FF3.0.1 and Gears0.5.33.0. This is happening on Win XP
SP3. I
tried clearing all the private data and it still doesn't work.

docs and
gmail.
