I forgot the Temporary Fix:
1. Go to about:config
2. click on the ''i be careful, i promise''
3. Rightclick somewhere in the screen and go to New > Boolian
4. Type in ''extensions.checkCompatibility''(without Quotes)
5. and then set the Variable to false.
6. Then you will need to reinstall Google Gears
7. Lookout!! If you install VERY OLD addons your browser will be VERY UNSECURE!

Someone trying the temporary fix could need this URL on Mac OS X:

Still no .10 on the Mac. If anyone from Google monitors this, could you give us
a
rough ETA? Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, briapv. Looks like the .30 update is only for
Windows.
Nothing yet for Mac. Haven't heard about Linux. Again, does anyone from Google
monitor these threads?

Not working on Linux (Archlinux).

And to further clarify: Gears works fine in Safari. It's Firefox 3.5.1 on the
Mac
that's the problem.

Google encourages developers to use Gears but then fails -- for more than a
week so
far -- to update Gears for the latest secure version of a major browser
(Firefox) on
the #2 consumer platform (Mac). I guess all that talk of Google deprecating
Gears
with the rise of HTML5 is turning out to be true.

I just want to know when we can expect the Gears update for Firefox 3.5.1. I
understand that Gears is "beta" software, and I can't expect it to work with
every
Firefox update right away, but not having an ETA is very frustrating.

OK, I found it at http://code.google.com/p/gearsff35osx/
The text on the left side says it's version 27, but the link on the right is to
version 31, and it works perfectly.
That was a lot harder than it needed to be.
Until the next upgrade ...

I was just able to install gears from the official site using 3.5.1 on my mac.
Haven't tested gmail or reader yet but it installs now.

Version 31 does not resolve the problem on a mac with 3.5.1 (testing using
google
calendar)

It seems like there is a patch which fixes this issue. I haven't tried it yet.
