google docs/reader offline mode : error message seen - Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Login to google docs
2. Enable offline mode and synchronize(if not already enabled, also make
sure google gears is already installed)
3. Disable network connection
4. Access docs in offline mode
5. Open any document - docs/spreadsheet/ppt

What is the expected output?
docs/spreadsheet/ppt should open

What do you see instead?
Blank page with error message "Internet Explorer cannot display the
webpage" .... "Diagnose Connection Problems"

Same issue with google reader in offline mode.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Browser : IE8
Google Gears : 0.5.32.0
OS : Vista SP1 Laptop
