congestion taxes
not doing road widening
"Pull" are factors which make transit modes more desirable, such as:
increased speed relative to cars
direct service to trip-generating destinations, like sports arenas, as opposed to car rides to parking lots with significant last-mile walks to destinations
lower cost
Specific to Columbus, we can then lay out things which Columbus can do to push transit use:
charge more for parking / remove parking subsidies
remove parking requirements in densely zoned areas, removed parking at alcohol-serving locations
And to pull transit use:
dedicated lanes
signal priority
late-night use in areas served by bars
build transit that directly services major trip generators: airport, The Shoe, OSU, specific stops in the Arena District, the Convention Center, Downtown, hospitals
