Please don't add empty directory plugins in src.tar.gz #230

It is no big issue by default to have plugins as an empty directory in a
tar.gz, but there are some issues when you need to store it in other
formats. For example when you are packaging it for another distribution
(debian orig.git for example) you will loose this directory and the
Makefile will not recreate it on demand - This will lead to a build
failure when you copy a compiled plugin to this directory. Is it possible
to create it on demand when building the source or add a .keep file?

The structure of the release packages has changed with the 2.0 re-architecture,
and
this problem is no longer relevant.
