I think that I'm going to get my website to a place that I'm satisfied with by the time we turn it in for the end of this unit, but I don't just want to be satisfied with it, I want it to be really good. Realistically, I'll probably be working on it for a while, but I think that for the final project, I could extend it and add in a little bit of work from other things we've done. I'm not sure how far I'll get on it for this unit, but I think that I'll still want to work on web typography, semantic HTML, improving my CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and the general aesthetic for a while. I could also, in the spirit of it being a cumulative final, make some GIMP files (logos or song covers or something) and embed them, as well as continuing to put songs up that are edited using skills we practiced in the soundwriting unit.
I am still interested in designing logos or social media campaigns. I think it could be fun and I would like the final project to use GIMP.
I also think using GIMP for things such as posts or possibly virtual flyers for a social media campaign could be really interesting. For my visual project, I created a flyer and I think it would be cool to extend that piece of media into a series of flyers and posts. I could possibly create a personal logo that could be associated with the posts/flyers.
I'd like to work more with GIMP possibly on logos/themes for a website or company. Additionally, I'd like to work more with sound potentially developing a soundtrack for something like a game or maybe a podcast. I like Audacity a lot so I'd probably use it again for something like this. I could also use GIMP in editing some of the visuals (to go along with audio).
Periodically in the semester, I will ask you to develop proposals for a final project that will allow you to integrate – and extend – what you’ve learned about composing digital media. This is the second of those proposals; you may wish to review the first. There is no minimum length.
Consider:
NB: This final project can be a solo or group project, or, with enough shared enthusiasm, a collective project that we divide up among all members of the class. But bear in mind we only have a few weeks after the web unit ends.
