Hi everyone! My name is Shaylee Burke and I am a final semester senior at Pitt! I am originally from central NJ (some people will say it doesn't exist but believe me it does) and am living off-campus in South Oakland this semester. I am double majoring in Communications and Psychology and I am pursuing a certificate in Corporate/Community Relations. On campus -- when things are normal -- I am involved in Pathfinders, Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity.
My favorite hobbies are going to concerts and traveling! Both of these activities, however, are much more difficult to do during the pandemic. Concerts will likely have to wait, but luckily I was still able to do some recent traveling. Spring semester I was abroad in Sydney, Australia and we got 8 out of 12 weeks there before being sent home. I had the chance to explore Sydney, Melbourne, Bali, the Gili Islands and Cairns (where the Great Barrier Reef is). Then, over the Summer, my family and I went on a road trip to see some of our National Parks : Zion (UT), Bryce Canyon (UT), Yellowstone (MT, WY, ID), and Grand Teton (WY). We did this all in 8 days but I would love to go back out West to see more parks and see them more thoroughly.
Below is a picture of my sister (left) and me (right) in Yellowstone at the Grand Prismatic Spring in the beginning of August.
Anyway, looking forward to a strange but exciting last semester!
