I totally agree. A combination similar to the filter Future Tasks with the add-on Schedule: https://github.com/ginatrapani/todo.txt-cli/wiki/Todo.sh-Add-on-Directory#wiki-futuretasks https://github.com/ginatrapani/todo.txt-cli/wiki/Todo.sh-Add-on-Directory#wiki-schedule
I'm fairly sure the officail todo.txt format doesn't support start date, so unfortunately I won't be adding support for it to todotxt.net.
Then that format should be changed, so it better links up with GTD.
Also, have a look at simpletask on android. It's supporting it, although I think Mark is using a different term like deferral date.

That's something to be discussed on the mailing list I'm afraid. If you convince Gina and the community to change the spec, I'll happily change todotxt.net to support it. On 1 Oct 2013 03:05, "kingsinger" notifications@github.com wrote:

Mentioned this on the todo.txt list-serve. It would be great if there were similar filters for start date as there are for due date.
In canonical GTD, the start date is far more important than priorities or the due date, because the goal is to hide any tasks with a start date after today's date.
Being able to quickly and easily filter based on start date is a really helpful way to narrow things down to just the stuff that is relevant right now.
