It didn't seem like it was necessary, I just didn't want to give the app the permissions it was requesting for my GitHub acct. One of the things it was requesting was to act on my behalf which was a red flag for me. Perhaps it was benign but I'd rather just go to GitHub.

Should’ve saved me some tsk tsk It made me make a GitHub account to post a comment, is there a way to get around that?

Collette: I think I have one left if you want to come get it before it gets eaten :p

You def need a Github account to common. On the vast majority of blogs you need an account to comment, whether that's Facebook, Disqus, Tumblr, blogspot, or an account specific to the blog.
