Sync/save not working

Haven't used StackEdit in about a month, and (in Chrome) it constantly tries to save (status bar keeps blinking), but it's not saving anything. Same problem when trying to sync back to Google Drive or just using StackEdit in the browser.

Anyone else seeing this same issue?

Been a (paying) fan of StackEdit for a while now, and it would suck if this thing's broken.

I can copy that. Wanted to setup sync on my new laptop at work and the saving/sync bar keeps blinking.

Also, setting up the Auto Sync feature with Google Drive does not work. No error shown, just nothing happens.

Hmm… I just updated a couple of apps on my Mac. (Nothing that would make sense to solve the issue; e.g. not Chrome, Dev Tools or OS X). But I cannot reproduce it anymore. Syncing seems to work again.

And yes – I restarted Chrome and my Laptop already before.

Yeah I thought it was working, but no luck. Tried syncing to Dropbox instead of Google Docs? Same problem. It just keeps spinning, and nothing saves.

I can't reproduce that. Can you try with incognito window to make sure it's not caused by an extension.

I think I have the same problem. I'm using Chrome 48.0.2564.116 on Mac. I opened a document from Google Drive and made a change. The sync process starts and I can see the animation going on at the top, but the process never finishes and my change is never persisted back to Drive. On the JS console I see these messages:

I have also tried to do the same thing with Dropbox, with the same results (I haven't compared the console output though).

I just saw your comment and tried the whole thing again in an Incognito window. I took care to deactivate all extensions for Incognito mode first. There was one difference in behavior: I had to force a sync manually, because it didn't kick in automatically within a minute or so. The app then showed the sync animation again and nothing was being synced. I copied the whole console log this time, which was much longer than before.

I tried Dropbox as well, with the same result as Google Drive. In both cases, I opened the file originally from the running StackEdit.

Another hint perhaps - when I try to access a Google Drive file directly in StackEdit (using the context menu on the item in Web Google Drive), the UI comes up but never loads the file.

No unfortunately not :-( I haven't had the opportunity to prioritize this. Good to hear there's interest though, it certainly affects the priority. And we're still suffering with the current situation at my work place. Back when I sent the email, I started implementing a temporary fix and researching, and found out quite a few things. Perhaps I should push the WIP and maybe someone's up for collaboration?

When I checked, this is what I found: Google's API has changed since Stackedit was last developed, and Stackedit's code is doing some less than clever things with the file edit history that it retrieves from Google in full. These things needs to be fixed before the sync will work. It is at least 3 whole days work of development work, probably 2 weeks to get it right, and maybe more. Somebody who can prioritize this work should do it; regrettably, I cannot right now.

I just did another test on this. Opened a file from Dropbox and edited, then waited for the sync to start. It did and then the progress indicator kept animating for... well... I'll say three or four minutes. I thought it was stuck - I checked the console where I found a large number of messages (couldn't tell when exactly they had shown up), then went back to read this thread again... and all of a sudden, after said three or four minutes, the sync completed successfully! So what's going on now? This is new, albeit still weird!

I'm having problems syncing my new changes back to Google Drive. Basically, I opened my Stackedit doc in Chrome, and started typing. Even force-save. But minutes later, all new contents were lost, as the document reverted to the old version. Was able to reproduce this loss of new content at least 3 times. I'm not sure what is going on... but it shaken my confidence in Stackedit... will look for another alternative... pity...

Stackedit hasn't been maintained in a long time, and the Google Drive syncing code is grossly out-of-date. Other sync options might work -- seems people are having success with Dropbox.

Until that part of Stackedit enjoys a rewrite, stay away from the Google Drive integration.

To owner of Stackedit: people are losing faith! Please at least add a notice warning people about the current situation.

Under "Manage Documents" on the right hand side, I deleted the local files and re-import my file from Google Drive. Seems to be stable now. Changes were synced back. Maybe the old local file were causing a problem. Will wait and see. Hopefully, it works again.

Unfortunately this is not solved. I have reset the app in the settings, but initiating any Drive operation from StackEdit results in timeouts, whereas opening "with" from Drive completes in seconds.

Would really like this to be fixed (especially since I monetized it a fair while ago). Stackedit.io really fills a gap for small scale publishing.

EDIT: I reset the app yesterday, and couldn't get it working. This morning it failed and timed out a couple of times, but suddenly it worked. Yesterday Drive Notepad also sat spinning on authenticating with Google for Drive files, now it authenticates in seconds as well...

EDIT: The problem is me (this time, at least), and my Disconnect Ad-blocker, which got it's whitelist cleared...
