One of the perks of using DISTRHO's JUCE fork (back in the JUCE 5 days) was that you could still build VST2 plugins even though mainline JUCE removed that functionality. I'm not sure if that's still allowed though; I believe Steinberg made it so that you're not allowed to even distribute VST2 plugins anymore.
This wouldn't be such a big problem if it weren't for the fact the VST3 builds are super laggy (even beyond #4, it's laggy with JUCE 5 as well.) I'd like to support the same plugin formats as vanilla Helm, if I'm allowed to do so.
