Have a maplands map mode that:

Follows the player around
Has a recipe for crafting, instead of a command
Configurable restrictions / recipe / features / limits
Displays map markers for entities / other players / etc. (configurable on/off/what)
Displays current player coordinates and cardinal facing of the map somewhere (configurable)
