ACNHMS does not stay connected to my console (Windows 10) #43

Describe the bug I am able to initially connect to MS, but if I click anything else (Read RAM, load villagers, etc), it says "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host", and underneath "Player A" it will change to "No connection active". I don't know if this is important as well, but when I initially press "connect," the button itself will blink many times. Again, MS appears to be connected to my switch until I click any other action in the MS window.

I've tried many things - redownloading MS, using a different save file in JKSV, restarting my PC, restarting my internet connection, restarting my switch, and turning off all firewalls and VPN settings. I have double-checked multiple times that my IP addresses match. I have also made sure I am using the most updated version of sysbot, etc.

The issue seems to fix itself after I close MS and some time has passed, but I still find it happening quite frequently. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. There must be something I need to fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your custom firmware version, console version, patch version and ACNHMS version AMS 0.16.0 Console ver. 11.0.0 ACNHMS version: 0.74-a

Device and OS (please complete the following information): I've tried ACNHMS on two computers, my desktop PC (Skytech Archangel) and laptop (HP Omen). Both operate with Windows 10 64-bit. The issue happens on both devices, although less often on my desktop.

It seems like your issue is your access point, do you have any ARP poisoning happening on your network? Such as a parental control third-party device?

I suggest creating a mobile hotspot from one of your windows machines, connect your switch directly to that and see if the issue persists. If it does then it could be an issue with your switch's network hardware.

Please do provide an update if/when you try any of this.

Hi! Thank you for replying! I don't have any ARP poisoning happening/any parental control devices, since I'm the only one using this network. My internet is Xfinity and has two networks, one that is 2.4G and one that is 5G. I've tried both to no avail. I mainly just stay on the 5G one.

I did try the mobile hotspot just now, but it gave me the same issue where the connection would be forcibly closed. Earlier today, after I wrote my initial post, I tried installing a fresh sysbot-base, and it seemed to work again with my regular xfinity network (the 5G one). However, it seems random as to when it works and when it doesn't.

Do you think that something is wrong with my switch? I bought it refurbished from a seller on eBay, but it's never been modded before me and its condition is like new. I've only done CFW things with ACNH so far, nothing too complex at all. Still pretty new to CFW. Any other advice you have would be appreciated! Thanks!

You could try to transfer a large file over the network using ftpd and see if you get any dropouts.

This doesn't seem to be an issue with the app, rather the connection at your home, so I'm closing this for now.
