Combining figures doesn't work in Matlab 2014 #47

Combining two (or more) figures in our test environments (which have an updated Matlab) doesn't work well - the bottom figures cut into the figures above them, leaving a dark band at the bottom of the figure (see attached). This may be related to Matlab, and has to be checked because lovelace is scheduled for a Matlab update.

This is probably due to image sizes that differ between Matlab versions, and are improperly handled by the PHP code in images.combine.php.
