You're missing a library. Install xrandr.
I was wondering how my problem magically got fixed yesterday. To confirm I uninstalled xorg-xrandr and, sure enough, reproduced the exact same issue I had. Thanks for the answer, closing this as it is now solved. Hope others learn from my mistake and install basic xorg libraries first, then try to play games on their fresh arch install.
Describe the bug Trying to launch any minecraft version results in a black screen. Launcher itself looks and works fine.
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Expected behavior The mojang splash screen should come, then the rest of the game.

Haven't encountered similar problems in an another arch linux install I have. I replaced lwjgl files with "newer" ones as per this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=155717, but there was no difference. Probably should mention that the arch install with problems is on a 10-year-old computer on a GeForce GTX 750 GPU.
JVM arguments are -Xmx1G, but I also tried with -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M, as expected this made no difference whatsoever.
I haven't found a solution online and there doesn't seem to be any similar issue open. I also tried using the v2 launcher but that also didn't work, that will probably be different issue at some point. This problem is not present in minecraft versions downloaded through tLauncher so this must be a betacraft specific issue.
