Hi,
You run into following problem:
The first sync was finished successfully, but the events were not yet committed
to the calendar database (it matches with Your statement, that You haven't seen
the events).
Then You run the second sync, which also can't see the new events and the
events will be added again.
If it is this problem, it can't be fixed on client side.
Please reopen if following test will fail:
1. Open Your calendar.
2. If You don't see any gCalBirthdays events, run a sync and wait until You see
them.
3. Run a new sync and observe Your calendar, if there are new duplicates.

I have all Birthdays in a separate calendar.
Just delete it and create a new one.
If You have added all birthdays to Your main calendar, then You have to use a
tool that allows bulk editing, like Sunbird or Thunderbird with Lightning.
