Minus a compelling reason to do so, I don't want to make ack be interface-compatible with grep. It has never been intended to be a drop-in replacement for grep. In fact, it's never been intended to replace grep, ever. It's an additional tool that has an interface similar to grep for human ease, but not such that you can s/grep/ack/g in all your shell scripts.
