It's my understanding that this won't be necessary because ack-the-old is going away and ack-grep is getting renamed to ack.
Good to know!
Maybe we could pastebin install notes for older Debian/Ubuntu versions (14.04- ?) for which this would remain a problem.

I'm up for adding docs. I just don't know where I'd put 'em. pastebin isn't a good solution for long-term docs.
Gist https://gist.github.com/?
We could reserve a GitHub page https://pages.github.com/ for Debian notes.

What I'm saying is that if we need to have notes about something ack it needs to be part of the repo and distribution itself, not an outside dump.
For Debian/Ubuntu users who get ack through ack-grep, and want to rename ack-grep to grep, it's not enough to rename the binary, but the man page as well (or else
man ack
fails).Could we please offer a bash command for this alongside the binary-renaming command?
