Kitchen backsplash #5

Probably tile with some sort of pattern.

A natural, rough-stone, look might also work.

Should the backsplash continue around the column? or terminate at the same spot as the cabinets?

If the tile wraps around the column, then should it also wrap around the opposite column? That might look weird. But it would also look weird if one wraps and the other doesn't. Need to think about that.

Here's an example with similar cabinets, but with a dark countertop http://www.bhg.com/kitchen/backsplash/kitchen-backsplash-ideas/#page=22

Use countertop material in the thin part under the bar. Use a TBD tile under the cabinets.
